Early on, I was drawn to dentistry and orthodontics through a fascination with mathematics and mechanics in school, and also, frankly, an intense curiosity as a child witnessing my cousin wearing orthodontic headgear. Discovering that a person could have the position of their teeth changed and improve the appearance of their smile seemed magical. I became curious about how that was possible and what it took to achieve that result. Dentistry and orthodontics seemed to me to combine science with art in order to help people. My path was set.
Practicing general dentistry for many years gave me a profound understanding of how unique every patient’s dental needs could be. Problem-solving in partnership with my patients and my team was rewarding and challenging. And watching my practice grow due to patient recommendations was enormously satisfying. My study of general dentistry, oral medicine and later orthodontics has given me a unique and well-rounded perspective and an extraordinarily strong local network of care providers and specialists.
The desire to continue to combine art and science via orthodontics led me to my current profession. While I still enjoyed dentistry, I realized orthodontics gave me the opportunity to be able to give a person a beautiful smile, better functionality, and even a healthier lifestyle. Since my orthodontics board certification in 2014, I have practiced in different clinical settings in both private practices and in the SeaMar Community Health clinic, gaining experience with different age groups and diverse types of cases. Practicing orthodontics in different clinical setups gave me the opportunity to gain experience in many aspects of orthodontics with children, teens, and adults. This also enabled me to treat many adults with complex interdisciplinary cases, a subject I currently teach at the University of Washington.
Since I have a wide breadth of experience and enjoy treating patients of all ages, I decided to build Seattle Precision Orthodontics as the perfect environment for any patient who wants the best orthodontic care and treatment.
